I'm a Birth and Postpartum Doula and Evidence Based Birth® Instructor. I bring a calm presence, evidence-based guidance and support with a warm human-touch to St. Louis families. I’m so grateful for the opportunity to pursue this passion of mine. Birth’s intimacy and transformation draws me in. I believe remnants of our births stay with us for our lifetimes, and to me this means birth can make the world a better place because it can change who we are and how we exist. I love spending time with family and friends over a home cooked meal, and most Saturdays you’ll find me at the farmers market purchasing ingredients for said meal. I spend loads of time outside with my adorable puppy and husband by my side. They’re the best playmates and adventure buds. I’m drawn to diving deep into intimate moments and experiences, and I think that’s one reason birth and postpartum speak to my soul. |

Hi, I’m Marvella Ying and while the title tells you my career and passion; I’m also a mom, wife, daughter, granddaughter, aunt, and community collaborator. My family and personal experiences birthing have lead me to this sacred work. I feel birth transforms a family in many ways. After the experience no one is ever the same, and my goal is that the family walks out of it closer and more loving than when they walked in. I am there to read the room, fill in the gaps, and help things run smoothly. Sometimes that is emotional support, sometimes its physical support, sometimes it’s helping the birthing partner know what to do, etc. I’m certified through Jamaa Birth Village and Centre of Exellence, certified as a Surrogacy Doula through DONA International, Spinning Babies trained, HypnoBirthing educated, CPR certified, Lactation Support Management Certified, and a Certified Evidence Based Birthing Educator. I have helped start a nonprofit organization to help pregnant financially compromised families, I’m a member of the Missouri Perinatal Quality Collaborative (Missouri PQC), and I’m helping head the Postpartum Taskforce in the state of Missouri. I have experience in home birth, hospital, medicated, unmedicated, cesarean, and vaginal birth of twins in my doula career. My ultimate goal is to ensure that the birthing person feels respected, heard, supported, and properly informed of all their choices. |

Nurtured Mommy's mission is to provide education and support, and to empower families during the childbearing year! The education that Becky provides is very well-rounded and takes into account your particular hopes and needs, as well as your care provider's style,
while still maintaining a holistic undertone.
NM serves families in St. Louis, St. Louis County, and surrounding areas. However, we also work with clients who are across the country - by Zoom, FaceTime and phone - so you don't even have to live locally to take advantage of what Nurtured Mommy has to offer!
