HypnoBirthing
The Mongan Method
HypnoBirthing is a philosophy and technique to birth your baby calmly and joyfully, with ease and often even pain-free. You will learn how to take yourself into a deep state of relaxation using self-hypnosis, special breathing techniques, visualization, affirmations, and education. HypnoBirthing returns a woman to the art of birthing in a way that allows her to summon her natural birthing instincts and to birth her baby in safety and comfort.

Frequently Asked Questions
Will partners need to attend the classes with me?
Partners are more than welcome, but are not required to attend. If they do attend, they will gain lots of valuable knowledge and support techniques to use during labor and birth. It is, however, very common for partners to attend some but not all of the 5 classes. It is also common for there to be a couple women per series without a partner or without a partner in attendance.
What if I miss a class? Is there an opportunity to make up the one I missed?
If you miss a class, you are welcome to make up the class in the next series that is offered, free of charge. If you would like to scedule a private make-up class, the cost of the session is $90.
How do I pre-register?
Becky will do her best to meet up with you several weeks before class begins to give you some of the materials, mainly so that you can work on reading the book before the series begins. It is ideal to have completed the reading before the second week of class because you will receive other homework beginning that week. When you meet with Becky, payment in the form of cash or check is expected at that time. If you are registering very close to the start date, you may need to come to class a few minutes early on the first day to get your materials from Becky and make your payment. Please reach out to Becky at becky@nurturedmommy.com or (310)560-6850 to set this up.
Times of covid update: Becky is temporarily taking payments via Venmo or a check via snail mail, and is having materials shipped directly to students.
Can I bring snacks with me to class?
Yes, of course! Nourishing your body is so important and you are encouraged to eat and drink whenever you need to.
Is there a discount if I would like Becky to be my HypnoDoula as well?
Becky offers several packages, one of which is a HypnoBirthing package that includes an additional private session to practice the HypnoBirthing techniques with her in your home, and in effect you also receive a discount. Please set up a time to meet with Becky to discuss your options if you are potentially interested in having her support you throughout your labor and birth.
What happens if Becky has to reschedule a class due to weather/driving conditions, illness, or attending a birth during class time?
Classes in the series rarely need to be rescheduled, but when this does happen we try to reschedule for a time that works for all of the students. If we are not able to find a time that works for everyone, the person or couple who are unable to attend the scheduled make-up will be able to do a private make-up session with Becky, free of charge.
Will there be a refund of fees if I have my baby before the end of the series, or am otherwise unable to complete the series?
There will be no refund of fees once you have begun taking the series. There have been a few women over the years who have had their babies before completing the course but they have still been able to utilize their learning from the classes they did attend during their births.
Do you recommend taking the class even if I know I will likely have medical interventions due to pre-existing special circumstances, or being classified as high risk?
HypnoBirthing is geared towards those who are hoping for a birth with as little medical intervention as possible. That being said, the tools and techniques that you will learn in class can be extremely helpful even when there are special circumstances or when the plan changes. Many of the techniques you learn can even be utilized after the baby arrives, to help you continue to feel calm, grounded, and connected with your baby throughout the transitions you will undoubtedly experience. I have had past students come back to me to thank me and share how they ended up using the techniques during cesarean births and other sometimes uncomfortable interventions.
